The garden-park ensemble is located on the territory of the Mezhigirsky Savior-Transfiguration Monastery on the banks of the Dnieper. The slopes of the Dnieper are covered with forest. There are hornbeam, pine, oak, alder, white acacia. There are two unique oaks growing 6.5 m and 5 m wide (400 years old), old maple, 3,7 m (over 100 years).
With the transfer of 1934 the capital of the Ukrainian SSR from Kharkiv to Kyiv, there was a need for a suburban government seat for high-ranking officials. Then it was decided to choose the territory of the former Mezhygirsky monastery for this purpose. In the times of the USSR it was the residence of P. Postishev, S. Kosior, M. Khrushchev and V. Shcherbytsky.
Each next owner ruined the mansion of his predecessor and erected a new one.
During the German occupation here was the residence of the Rayhskommissar of Ukraine E. Koch.
In 1991, an official meeting between Secretary-General of the USSR M.Gorbachev and the German Chancellor G.Kol took place here.
In 2002-2014 - a private residence of V. Yanukovych.
There are two berths with a yacht club on the territory of Mezhyhirya, a helicopter ground, a horse club, a garage with rare cars and motorcycles (more than 70 units), a ship-restaurant "Galeone", a golf course, a shooting gallery, tennis courts, beach rides Dnieper, dairy farm, spa center, sauna, fire station, mobile tower, gardens, greenhouses, hunting grounds, kennel center, zoo, ostrich and duck farms, pheasantarium, stables, artificial lake (filled with water from ten artesian wells).
After the departure of Viktor Yanukovych in 2014, the residence "Mezhygirya" is open for a general visit.
In 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution to return Mezhygirya to state ownership.
There are eight monuments of history and archeology of various times that were discovered and partially explored by archaeologists on the territory of the complex. Among them there is a complex of underground cave monasteries in Pekarnitska mountain, described by researchers in the nineteenth century. The gallery of caves began from the pier on the banks of the Dnieper and passed into the depth of the hill by 40 m. There is an evidence of the existence of a cave church here. Now, due to landslides and crashes, the location of the underground complex can not be established.
