In the centre of Irpin, on the wall of one of the high-rise buildings, the mural “The Whole World Will Remember the Heroes of Irpin” was created, dedicated to the defenders of the city who fought the Russian occupiers.
The wall painting depicts a scene of evacuation of civilians across the Romanivka Bridge and Ukrainian symbols – sunflowers and swallows. The phrase on the mural “The whole world will remember the heroes of Irpin” is from a poem by the author of the book “The Battle for Irpin” and producer of the film “Outpost Irpin” Petro Shcherbyna. The poem is called “The whole world will remember the heroes of Irpin”.
“These Irpin heroes
The world will remember.
Those who took up arms,
Those who went on the march.
Those who carried a girl across the bridge
In their arms.
Who walked through gunfire
And fought without strength.
Those who carried out the killed
And saved the living.
Those who fought through tears,
Those who lost a brother”
The mural was created on the initiative of the owner of the Irpin café “SOVA” Roman Yavorskyi, who personally took part in the defence of Irpin. The authors of the mural are the artists Nataliia Dovhoshyi and Alla Voronovska.
