On the occasion of Knowledge Day, a mural dedicated to the inventor Cooper was unveiled in Irpin on the grounds of the Innovative Technologies Lyceum. The artists Stanislav Vedybornets and Kateryna Vedmid created the mural over three days and paid due respect to this important event in the history of information technology development.
Martin Cooper is an American engineer who in 1973 made the world’s first call on a mobile phone. An engineer with Ukrainian roots, Martin Cooper is well acquainted with the city of Irpin, as his father was born and lived in a part of the city called Severynivka.
With the start of the invasion of the Russian Federation, the scientist expressed his support for Ukraine and for the Irpin community, which is dear to him. In September 2022 Martin talked with Ukrainian pupils and students about modern technologies and received commemorative gifts from the Irpin City Council.
