The #ExploreKyivRegion Project

History lovers will find it interesting to start with the Trypillia park in the town of Rzhyshchiv, where there are sculptures replicating the main artefacts of the Trypillians.

Next comes a boat trip to a small island, where a white church with golden domes stands right in the middle of the Dnipro, an amazing and somewhat mystical sight.

Divych Hora in the village of Trypillia is the highest point in Obukhiv district. At its top, at a height of 55 m above the Dnipro and 186 m above sea level, a Slavic sanctuary was once built. According to legend, women who were about to give birth came here and asked the Gods for their blessing to carry and bear a healthy child. Modern researchers say that Divych Hora truly has healing properties and positive energy. Perhaps because the Apostle Andrew once set foot here, or perhaps because our forefathers saw off their loved ones into eternity here. Old people believe that their spirit still lives here. Divych Hora in Trypillia can be visited on tours of the Places of Power.

In the ancient village of Trypillia there is a regional archaeological museum, which displays more than 500 artefacts. Near picturesque Vytachiv, where you can see a wonderful panorama of the Dnipro, the scenery is well known from the film “The Guide”.

In Obukhiv itself there is the Andrii Malyshko Museum-Estate, where the future poet was born. Interesting exhibits connected with Malyshko include a desk with a typewriter, books and the poet’s personal belongings.

The town also has a lake that locals call Feijoa. It was formed in a clay quarry and is flooded with green water.

And one of the magnets of Kyiv Oblast is the “Kyivan Rus Park”, a recreation of Ancient Kyiv of the 5th–13th centuries, the capital of the great medieval state of Kyivan Rus, within its historical centre known as the Kyiv Detinets or the City of Volodymyr.
