Top 10 Most Popular Mobile Apps in 2025
In today’s world a smartphone is not just a fashionable gadget but a full-fledged helper at work, in study and in leisure. And how convenient it is to use this device depends on which mobile apps its owner has installed.
I am Yaroslav Hordiichuk, an information security specialist. My experience tells me that people choose the apps that really make life easier. So I decided to find and present to everyone the top 10 apps that truly became popular in 2025. All the examples are simple and familiar, both to me and to many Ukrainians.
The TOP 10
With over 6.6 billion smartphone users worldwide and more than 200 billion app downloads every year, it is obvious that the empire of mobile apps is in huge demand. Here is my ranking.
ChatGPT (official app)
An incredible thing. I use it every day – for finding ideas and for explaining complex things in simple words. I hurried to download chat GPT among the first after updating my phone. It works on both Android and iOS, has a convenient design and easily writes answers even to tangled questions.
TikTok
TikTok is not giving up its position. This app is still the most popular among young people, especially thanks to short videos and the unique ability to communicate with other users through live battles. However, it is important to know how to clean up TikTok of everything unnecessary.
Here is a simple way: open the “Watch history” section and delete old entries. To improve recommendations, you can reset them in the settings or simply get rid of unnecessary likes and subscriptions.
YouTube (and YouTube Premium)
In my opinion, YouTube Premium is a real must-have. There are no ads, and you can listen to videos in the background. It is convenient for learning, watching the news, films, or just to enjoy music on the way home.
TikTok mod
Many people look for a TikTok mod because they want more features, for example downloading videos without a watermark or advanced search. Such versions should be used with caution. They often lack official verification, may contain viruses or violate the rules, but they really do open up new possibilities.
Instagram is not a new app, but it is still at the top. Among the most popular features in 2025 is anonymous Instagram stories viewing, which lets you view stories unnoticed. Personally, I sometimes just want to look at a story without interacting – and this option really helps out.
It is hard to imagine communication in modern life without WhatsApp. It is simple, light, and now also has a secret chat feature that protects personal data. I see that more and more people are switching to WhatsApp because of its stable operation.
Telegram
One of the most popular platforms both among messengers and among content sources is Telegram. And here is why:
- bots;
- video and voice calls;
- channels;
- messages (text and voice);
- sharing an unlimited number of images;
- the ability to share geolocation;
- animated stickers, contacts and audio files.
The favourite messenger of many users for work.
CapCut
This is a simple video editor. With it, it is easy to make clips for TikTok or Instagram. I think that even without editing experience you can create something beautiful and impressive. The main thing here is ease of use.
Duolingo
For those who want to brush up their English or another language, it is a great option. I started studying German, and with Duolingo it is really not boring. Gamification and reminders motivate you not to stop.
Google Maps
An indispensable service in the city or while travelling. It helps you not to get lost and to quickly find a café or a pharmacy. In 2025 it works even better in offline mode – which is a lifesaver when there is no connection.
I am convinced that a deep understanding of what exactly you need in everyday life helps you choose truly useful apps. All the apps on my list are not just “hype”. They are recommended by other users, and there are plenty of positive reviews about them from satisfied customers.
Such programs really simplify life. They let you quickly find, order or organise something. They are convenient because they can work offline, send notifications, adapt to the user’s actions and are always at hand – right in the phone.
