In October the fairy-tale village of Bobrytsia traditionally celebrates its name day — the village was founded in 1648 on the territory of free and spirited Cossacks. Here, along the valley of the Irpin River, ran the border line between the Ukrainian territories of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and Left-Bank Ukraine. The Cossacks guarded the border and maintained the customs post. These lands scarcely knew serfdom until its abolition; a natural need for freedom is a characteristic feature of the local residents.
Today, in the years of yet another war, the free spirit of the people of Bobrytsia is present both at the front and in the rear. Meetings at the Bobrytsia Fair, thanks to its warm atmosphere, support us and our friends. Allowing ourselves life during war and preserving traditions is important — this year we are without the name-day celebration, but with an interesting and useful programme:
- from 11:00 to 15:00 at our stalls: fresh farm produce and handmade items from Bobrytsia, neighbouring villages, Kyiv and even other regions;
- throughout the day from 12:00 to 17:00: a music programme on the Stage under the Pines, workshops for children and adults, prize draws from our fair participants;
- in parallel from 11:00 in the morning in the cosy restaurant courtyard: coffee, a variety of dishes grilled on the brazier, warming mulled wine and more;
- the lecture hall in the House of Culture traditionally has its own schedule of very, very interesting presentations and discussions: ecology, history and culture are in focus this time.
Of course, as always, there will be an important fundraiser for the needs of the front — we will announce it separately later.
Come with the whole family and invite your friends!
