“Nazar Stodolia” is a historical drama by Taras Shevchenko about love, honour, freedom and a person’s right to determine their own destiny.
The events unfold in Cossack times. Nazar and Halia want to be together, but their love is opposed by the will of her father, social circumstances and a struggle for power. The characters face a difficult choice between submission to someone else’s will and the right to fight for their own happiness.
In director Taras Mazur’s production, Shevchenko’s classic work appears as an emotional story about strong feelings, human dignity and freedom of choice.
“Nazar Stodolia” is a play about love that is put to the test, and about freedom, for which every generation has to fight in its own way.
The play runs without an interval.
