On 10 January the team of the Sheptytsky Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University invites Slavutych residents to visit the exhibition of the cross-sector project “Demarcation: Never Again”.
Since March 2014 war has been going on in Ukraine – thousands of Ukrainian cities and villages are gradually disappearing from the country’s map… millions of Ukrainians have lost their homes and left their native settlements. The idea of the project’s visual exhibition is to convey the range of mental images associated with memories of maimed or destroyed Ukrainian cities that, as a result of the war, found themselves on the line of demarcation – the line of “before and after”, the line of “existence and destruction”, the line of “life and memory”. Thus, the decisive factor in implementing the project was the living memories of residents of 6 Ukrainian cities that have been on the line of “demarcation” since February 2022.
Our goal is to draw society’s attention to the problems of our maimed urban spaces and to capture the unique images of cities and villages that were completely or partially destroyed by the enemy during the full-scale war. In this way, we aim to explain in a clear and accessible manner the cultural value of these locations and the pain of losing one’s home to every Ukrainian, so that we unite even more in our common fight against the enemy.
The exhibition can be visited until 28 February 2025 at the Museum of Local History of Slavutych and the Chornobyl NPP, at: 7 Nezalezhnosti Ave, Slavutych.
