The Memorial Museum Estate of the People’s Artist of Ukraine Kateryna Bilokur is located in Bohdanivka village. This is where the people’s artist of Ukraine was born in 1900 and lived all her life.
The museum complex was opened in 1977 and includes the house museum and the estate where century-old trees grow and a splendid full-height park sculpture of Kateryna Bilokur stands. It was made by the artist’s nephew Ivan Bilokur, who donated it to his fellow countrymen.
The interior is recreated as it was during the artist’s lifetime, namely the big room (referred to as ‘khatyna’), the studio, the bedroom, the kitchen, etc. The oven and interior walls were painted by Kateryna’s disciple Hanna Samarska. The Museum Estate displays the artist’s oil paintings and pencil drawings. It also stores photos, fragments of letters, statements by writers Mykola Bazhan, Oles Honchar and others as regards Kateryna Bilokur’s life and creative path. Besides, the owner has collected and interesting library, containing books by Ukrainian authors and various art handbooks. Overall, the holdings comprise over 500 items.
