On this spot, after the surrender of Kyiv to the Nazis during the Second World War, on 23 September 1941 a division of five Soviet armoured trains was blown up so as not to leave it to the enemy as a trophy. The trains were fighting their way out of encirclement, but ahead the bridge over the Supii River had been destroyed, and ammunition and materials for restoring the tracks had already run out. The equipment had to be destroyed, and the crews of the armoured trains joined partisan detachments in the Chernihiv region.
