The cathedral was built by the prominent architect of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Stepan Kovnir. The construction lasted for three years, from 1755 to 1758. The church is dedicated to Antony and Theodosius, the founders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
