Gastronomic Routes of the “Wine and Taste Roads of the Kyiv Region”: Highlights of the Yabluniv Direction
www.zabirya.com.ua

Gastronomic tourism is both a journey and unforgettable flavours. These are exactly the journeys offered by the creators of the “Wine and Taste Roads of the Kyiv Region” network of routes. Travelling along these routes, tourists will get to know interesting locations and exquisite delicacies.

The project was launched in 2021 and has already developed 5 directions: Rzhyshchiv, Yabluniv, Yasnohorodka, Chornobyl and Yahotyn. We will tell you in more detail about the most interesting spots of the Gastro Route in the Yabluniv Direction.

Hotel and Restaurant Complex “Hetman’s Fortress”

This is a genuine Hetman’s castle with the largest fireplace in the city and in Ukraine, just 600 metres from Kyiv. The interior is designed in the style of the Hetman era and the Cossacks: rooms turn into chambers, comfortable beds into princely couches, dinner in the restaurant into a lavish reception with exquisite treats, and attentive service into honouring every guest.

At the hotel and restaurant complex, tourists can enjoy a tasting of homemade wines, fruit liqueurs, tinctures, cheeses and Ukrainian dishes made from old recipes. All the dishes are cooked with artesian water from products grown on Ukrainian soil by farmers of the Prykarpattia, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions. Stoves and tandoors are used in cooking to preserve the taste and benefits of the products.

Fish Farm “Lake Mykhailyna”

Here tourists can look forward to treats in a fish restaurant, admiring the picturesque nature, getting to know a historic place (in the 18th century the estate of Mykhailo Tereshchenko stood nearby in the forest) and fishing.

The lake was created in the 19th century thanks to Mykhailo Tereshchenko, a well-known patron of the arts and sugar producer. The lake is named “Mykhailyna” in his honour. Today it is very popular with anglers, and fishing is attracting more and more lovers of the outdoors.

Organic Farm Zabirya Organic Farm

Zabirya Organic Farm grows organic heirloom vegetables (more than 100 varieties of tomatoes). The farm covers about 8 hectares. On its territory are a nursery of blueberry and other ornamental seedlings “EKKO Novatsiia”, 8 greenhouses, an orchard (being planted gradually now), a pond for watering the greenhouses, poultry housing and a building with an office and hostel, a kitchen and canteen for workers, as well as a small workshop for processing, packing and storing produce. The rest of the territory is taken up by beds for growing produce and free-range space for the poultry.

Tastings at Zabirya Organic Farm are seasonal, namely during summer and autumn. The tasting covers all seasonal vegetables and products of its own production (for example, canned and dried vegetables, kombucha, juices and jams). The number of people in a tasting group and the price should be agreed individually.

Tours here are held depending on the season and weather conditions. They include a walk around the farm with tomato picking and the story of the most interesting varieties, a talk about the principles of organic farming, permaculture and the importance of sustainable business, etc. (depending on the group and its interests), a walk through the beds picking the seasonal harvest (if desired) and a visit to the mini petting zoo of farm animals. The group size is up to 20 people. The price of the tour is calculated individually.
