An exhibition of paper cut-outs (vytynanky) “The Movement of Life” by artist Yevheniia Lypovetska has opened at the History Museum of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve
In her work Yevheniia demonstrates the possibilities of paper in narrative and multi-layered cut-outs, as well as ones with coloured backings. This proves that modern possibilities give an impetus to developing this technique.
In total, several series of cut-outs are presented at the exhibition.
When creating them, the artist uses traditional Ukrainian symbols combined with her own creative imagination. Each has a special meaning. The main images are the tree of life, which symbolises the strength of the family and the lineage, and the image of a woman as the keeper of the hearth.
At the very heart of the exhibition are large-scale banner cut-outs, which are its highlight.
The exhibition will run at the History Museum of the Vyshhorod Reserve until 15 February 2025
