The town of Chuchyn in the Principality of Kyiv is mentioned in the chronicle under the year 1110 in connection with a Polovtsian raid. It was among the fortified settlements that guarded the right bank of the Dnipro from Polovtsian invasions. It is identified with the hillfort near present-day Balyko-Shchuchynka.
In this village the remains of three lines of earthen fortifications have survived. During excavations, some defensive and residential structures were discovered.
