In the nunnery located in the village of Fasova in the Makariv district of the Kyiv Oblast, there is a newly appeared icon of the Mother of God called “The Hearkener” (Uslyshatelnytsia). It is a copy of one of the revered shrines of Mount Athos. Information about the Athonite icon “The Hearkener” can be drawn from the life of St Kosmas, the hermit of Zograf, who lived as an ascetic at the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th centuries. The life describes an incident from the first years of St Kosmas’s monastic life, when the Queen of Heaven was pleased to let him see with his own eyes Her touching care for the inhabitants of the monastery.
