We invite you to the opening of the exhibition “The World of Hand-Modelled Ceramics from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age” as part of the events of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve (a communal institution of Kyiv Oblast Council) for National Pottery Day.
The exhibition presents fragments of ceramic vessels from the Neolithic and Bronze Age. These finds come from the Buslovka tract in Kozarovychi village, Kyiv Oblast, and from Hryni Pustynka in Chernihiv Oblast, and were found by scholars of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine during research in the 1960s–70s.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on 12 July at 14:00 at the Museum of Ancient Rus Pottery of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve (a communal institution of Kyiv Oblast Council).
The exhibition focuses on the historical fate of our country’s territory, which in different periods of its existence was home to many ancient peoples. Archaeological sites across the lands of
Ukraine present the history, economy, daily life and culture of the tribes and peoples who lived here over millennia.
The pottery fragments on display have ornamentation characteristic of Neolithic settlements. Possibly this ware was fired over a flame, and then the (pitted) ornament was applied. These features of ceramic production were preserved in the following eras, and it is clay ware that makes it possible to determine
cultural and ethnic affiliation and chronology.
Join the historical and cultural events from the VHCR and discover the features of rich Ukrainian culture and history together with us!
All events on the territory of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve are held in compliance with safety rules during martial law. Temporary shelters operate on the grounds of the reserve’s museums and can be used during an air-raid alert.
