“Through the Eyes of Those Who Are Silent” is an ordinary village story in which human destinies are decided in an old stable. Maria Lado’s play explores the eternal questions of good and evil, and the struggle between heart and reason.
The events unfold in a small village, where the young lovers Daryna and Oleksii seek their happiness but face an old conflict between their parents. Not only people but animals too decided to intervene in this whirl of events: a horse, a cow, a dog, a pig and even a “hen”. They become silent witnesses and at the same time wise commentators. Their thoughts are full of kindness, humour and painful truth, reminding us that sometimes it is the “dumb” creatures who understand the human heart better than humans themselves.
The Saksahansky Theatre’s production takes the audience into a world where animals become the voice of conscience.
It is a play that gives hope, cleanses the soul and leaves behind a bright aftertaste of faith in the victory of good over darkness.
