Time flows, people, tastes and preferences change, but immortal classics are eternal. The premiere of “Matchmaking in Honcharivka” took place on 27 December 1982 in Volodarka. Since then the play has been seen and loved by audiences not only of our home theatre, but of all Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and the Caucasus.
The beauty Ulyana is being given in marriage to the fool Stetsko, but her heart belongs to the serf Oleksii. What will her fate be? Folk customs and a great many folk songs.
As many years ago, the audience roots for the fate of Ulyana and Oleksii, laughs and sympathises with the characters, and simply enjoys a favourite play.
