The Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve invites you to winter workshops that bring us back to the roots of our culture and make tradition alive! In the cosy space of the Museum of Ancient Rus Pottery and the Historical Museum we have created programmes for children and adults — educational, interactive and truly warm. Choose what is closest to you, or come to everything at once
Our workshops:
- Learning koliadky and shchedrivky: we immerse ourselves in the world of Ukrainian winter rituals: ancient texts, symbols, meanings and the magic of the holidays. We learn to sing together — in a big circle, as once in every family.
- “The Song Basket” — Ukrainian singing for adults and children: a game, an adventure and learning all at once. We “decipher” Ukrainian songs, look for their hidden meanings, sing and discover for ourselves and our children the richness of traditional melos.
- “Let’s Dance!” We learn folk dances — “Oira”, “Hrechanyky”, “Karapet” and others that preserve the rhythm and character of our ethnic code. We dance merrily, accessibly and with a high charge of joy.
- Headscarf-tying workshop: a headscarf is warm, beautiful and so Ukrainian. We will teach various ways of tying that emphasise style and individuality. Especially relevant in the cold season.
- “Folklore Alphabet”: a programme for older preschool and younger school-age children. We get to know the genres of children’s folklore by the alphabet and play interactive folk games — interesting, educational and fun.
