The world-famous artist Banksy left his graffiti on one of the houses in Irpin destroyed by the rashists, thereby drawing the attention of the world community to the scale of destruction in Irpin and immortalising with his art the story of Irpin’s struggle and the idea of its revival. On 8 December, by decision of the Irpin City Council, the English artist Banksy became an honorary citizen of Irpin.
On the destroyed house, right above a shell hole, another small gymnast is painted – this time with a ribbon. It looks as if this shell hole is a ball on which the girl is dancing.
According to the media, he arrived in Ukraine incognito. Later a video in support of Ukrainians appeared on his Instagram page.
The house where the mural was created suffered heavy destruction during the occupation of the city. So, by decision of a special commission, the building was dismantled, but the work of art was saved. To do this, it was decided to use the manual method of dismantling one of the spans of the building. During the work the graffiti was covered with a special structure of concrete blocks. The dismantling took 5 days, after which the wall with the art object was put in a metal frame to create a rigid structure. After that part of the wall was cut out and moved to a new place, where a Contemporary Art Square will be created in the future.
