The museum’s exhibition is housed in a religious building, a monument of folk architecture – the Church of St Paraskeva from the village of Viunyshche in the Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi district. It was built in 1891, and in 1971–1973 it was moved and installed on a natural hill in the central part of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnipro Ukraine.
The idea of creating this museum, quite atypical for the Pereiaslav area, belonged to M.I. Sikorsky, but academician O.Yu. Ishlinsky and Doctor of Technical Sciences S.V. Malashenko had an important influence on shaping it.
Today the museum’s exhibition includes more than 450 exhibits. All of them are located in five conventional halls determined by the architectural features of the church. The exhibition shows the domestic history of space exploration and lets you see objects used during space flights. The central place in it is occupied by the Foucault pendulum – the first in Ukraine. The museum displays models of spacecraft, individual components of spaceships and launch vehicles, and several types of special equipment..
