The amusement park in Pripyat is one of the most popular sights of the town. Half-ruined swings and abandoned alleys sharply emphasise the contrast between past and present. The park was scheduled to open on 1 May 1986, but it was never destined to receive its guests because of the disaster. The Ferris wheel, which nobody ever rode, became one of the symbols both of Pripyat and of the whole Chornobyl Zone.
