The Writers’ Park was opened on 30 October 2017 during the celebration of Irpin City Day. It is located between Pidhirna and Stelmakha streets on the grounds of the Irpin Writers’ House of Creativity. The park received its name in honour of this house.
The Writers’ House was established in 1936 on the former dacha of the Kyiv entrepreneur Ivan Chokolov, which he built in 1905. Chokolov chose the location of his dacha very well: it stands on a hill, the Irpin River flows nearby, and all around are forest, peace and quiet (in those days). It is no wonder that this place appealed so much to our writers. Over the years Andrii Malyshko, Mykola Bazhan, Volodymyr Sosiura, Ostap Vyshnia, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Pavlo Tychyna, Oles Honchar, Mykhailo Stelmakh, Maksym Rylsky and many others worked there.
The Writers’ Park turned out very beautiful and themed. There are sculptures here of a pen, a poet, lovers, a cyclist, gnomes, a girl with a paintbrush, a gentleman with an umbrella, a person relaxing on the lawn, and an open-air stage for creative performances.
Near the Writers’ House there is an alley with seven wooden sculptures of children, the future writers. There is also a pond with a fountain and a sculpture of a fisherman, and wooden gazebos. A stream flows through the park, crossed by decorative bridges.
