Skansen Ukrainian Village

The main purpose of creating the “Ukrainian Village” ethnographic complex is the desire to revive in the ordinary Ukrainian a love for their spiritual roots: faith, people, state, culture and way of life. More than once our people were subjected to various forms of oppression by one enemy or another, united by a single goal – the desire to enslave us. No more effective means of enslaving a whole people can be found than destroying the memory of its roots. It was precisely in this way, especially during the last century, that our spirituality and culture were destroyed. The destruction was colossal – millions perished, churches were demolished, the language and culture were defiled. But the memory of what is our own and love for one’s native land prevented the invaders from achieving their goal!
