The largest ostrich farm in Ukraine, familiar to everyone, has turned into a full-fledged family eco-park for the most comfortable stay with family, friends or colleagues.
The range of entertainment and services is impressive; every guest will definitely find something for themselves:
Only 30 km from Kyiv, in the village of Yasnohorodka, is the largest and first breeding ostrich farm in Ukraine, “Valley of Ostriches”. The first 36 animals were brought here back in 2001. Now more than 400 birds live on a territory of about 20 ha. Among them are white rheas from South America, Australian emus and African ostriches. Adult ostriches live in families: one male and several females, while young birds live together in separate enclosures. A visit to the Ostrich Valley is accompanied by a guide with a tour lasting about half an hour. Both individual and group tours are available, with separate conditions for organised school groups.
Besides the ostrich farm, the grounds have a zoo where you can see peacocks, owls, ducks, Indian runner ducks, fighting cocks and unusual chickens, as well as deer, llamas, alpacas, camels, pigs, raccoons, rabbits, sheep and more. Most animals can be fed with food sold on site; bringing your own food for the animals is not allowed. In the contact zone, however, you can interact with the animals more closely. Children and adults are delighted.
Wine is also produced independently on the farm. There are its own vineyards, a winery, and a cellar with a museum and a tasting room. Every year, for 10 years now, the Yasnohorodka farm has held the “Family Winemaker” festival on weekends over the course of a month. There you can press grapes by hand, or more precisely “by foot”, for your own signature wine. All this happens with merry festivities and under the supervision of a professional winemaker. After the tasting you can always buy a few bottles of quality wine.
4. Children’s amusement park “Yasnohrai”
Is it possible to relax with children so that the parents rest too? From now on it is! The large park for active outdoor fun in Yasnohorodka offers the best locations for children and teenagers, in a specially separated zone of the park. The most interesting attractions are gathered here, and every child, depending on their character and favourite kinds of fun, will find something to do, from pedal cars to football. There is also a play zone with various outdoor activities, an exciting mine-maze, trampolines, a bit of extreme – the troley (a zip-line descent from top to bottom of about 150 metres with a safety harness), and at weekends animators work with interesting contests and games. Children aged 3 and older are admitted.
5. Where to eat: Ferma. Local Food Hub
On the grounds of the complex is the restaurant Ferma, where you can taste many delicious original dishes prepared from ecological products grown here on the farm. These include exclusive dishes from ostrich meat and eggs, grilled dishes from the meat of local animals, traditional dishes of national cuisine and more. The restaurant welcomes visitors all year round, including for private celebrations of any type. For loud and private celebrations there are separate banquet halls.
6. Street barbecue zone: Grill&Chill Park
On warm days a picnic zone and a grill zone operate in the eco-park, where tasty dishes and drinks are prepared. This zone regularly hosts various street food festivals and festive events. A relaxing atmosphere reigns here and music plays.
Most of the eco-farm’s products can be bought in the shop on the grounds of the complex. These may include:
- Farm cheeses
- Dairy products
- Signature wine and mulled wine
- Meat products
- Semi-finished products (syrnyky, varenyky, pelmeni, khinkali, pancakes and more)
- Homemade bread and biscuits
- Souvenirs made of ostrich leather, eggs and feathers
Since 2023 you can stay overnight in the eco-park in a picturesque and comfortable campsite. The glamping consists of furnished and electrified tents of increased comfort, one large high-capacity tent with an air-conditioning system, as well as a covered lounge zone and a comfortable area for an evening campfire. Each tent also has its own terrace with a table, chairs and a large umbrella. From summer 2024 a full-fledged hotel with comfortable houses will open in the eco-park.
The out-of-town family pool complex in the Yasnohorodka eco-park will become a favourite place for the whole family to relax in the hot summer months. Newly built and shining with novelty, the complex includes 4 separate pools: 2 for children and 4 for adults. The children’s pools and one of the adult pools are equipped with a water heating system. The pool complex’s food court offers a menu of ostrich specialities, pizza, burgers and various drinks and cocktails. There is no need to go to Turkey or Egypt to relax in maximum comfort by the water and even stay overnight in a comfortable hotel!
The Yasnohorodka Family Eco-Park welcomes visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.!
