Victoria Film Studios

Among the picturesque landscapes of the village of Hurivshchyna in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast, not far from Kyiv, stands one of the most interesting modern architectural landmarks of the region – a fairy-tale castle, often called the “Ukrainian Disneyland”. This majestic structure serves as the main entrance to the largest film studio in Ukraine – Victoria Film Studios, founded in 2008 by the producer Viktor Yablonsky. The studio covers an area of 36 hectares and brings together in one location all stages of film production – from building sets to post-production.

The castle, built of natural stone, wood and metal, impresses with its monumentality and authenticity. Its architecture is inspired by classic European fortresses and fairy-tale palaces, and its overall outline resembles the legendary castle from the Walt Disney company logo. In front of the building are iconic art objects of the film world – a metal figure of the Alien, a replica of the Iron Throne from “Game of Thrones” and a statue of Batman, which add a special cinematic atmosphere to the location. The studio grounds have outdoor sets “Village”, “Old Town”, “Prison”, “Lake”, “River” and “Field”, as well as filming pavilions and prop warehouses. Films shot here include “Lastivka” (2023) and “Forbidden Love” (2016), scenes of “Iron Man 2” and other Ukrainian and international projects.

The castle is part of the closed territory of the film studio, so no tours are held inside, but the building remains a popular place for photo shoots and one of the most attractive sights of Kyiv Oblast for tourists and film lovers. You can get to the castle in Hurivshchyna by minibuses No. 373, 762 or 773 from Sviatoshyn metro station – the trip takes about 40 minutes, after which you need to walk about 2.4 km on a cobbled road past the Cross-Memorial “To the Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine”. This location is a must for those planning weekend routes around Kyiv Oblast and interested in Ukrainian cinema.
