Taras Shevchenko visited the Vyshhorod area and Vyshhorod itself many times. During one of his visits, in 1846, he made the sketch “Vyzhhorod. A River Landscape with High Banks” (the old name).
Vyshhorod (paper, pencil, 270x390 mm) is a sketch made by the author in April–September 1846 not far from Kyiv. It is kept in the Taras Shevchenko National Museum.
For the celebration of the 207th anniversary of T.H. Shevchenko’s birth, a sign with a QR code, #touchhistory, was installed in Vyshhorod on the embankment, at the place where the poet drew inspiration and created.
Do you want to see Vyshhorod through Shevchenko’s eyes? Then head to the embankment!
